William Lopez

Passed on March 6, 2026

William “Willie” Lopez, age 75, of Queens, New York, passed away peacefully on March 6, 2026, at North Shore University Hospital.

Born in Manhattan on October 14, 1950, Willie grew up in Harlem before later settling in Queens, where he spent most of his life. He was the son of the late Jose Lopez and Felicita Lebron. Willie worked for many years as a typographer in the printing industry, dedicating himself to his craft and taking pride in the work he produced.

Willie was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather whose greatest joy was his family. He married the love of his life, Martha, in November of 1979, and together they built a life centered around love, laughter, and music.

An avid sports fan, Willie passionately followed all New York teams, especially the Yankees, Knicks, Rangers, and Giants. His love of the Yankees began in childhood, when his older brother would take him to games and sit together in the bleacher seats, creating memories he carried with him for the rest of his life.

Music and dancing were at the heart of Willie’s spirit. He loved Salsa and Motown and especially enjoyed the music of Frankie Ruiz, Héctor Lavoe, Tito Puente, The Stylistics, and The Temptations. Willie had a wonderful singing voice and often spent time serenading his beloved wife. His love for music and singing also inspired his son and niece, both of whom developed a lifelong appreciation for music because of him.

Willie was also a faithful member of the Holy Name Society and volunteered for many years helping fellow parishioners at St. Leo’s Church. His kindness, generosity, and willingness to help others made a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.

Above all, Willie was an incredible father and role model. He had a special gift for bringing smiles to the faces of the people he loved and left a positive impact on the many young lives he touched.

He is survived by his loving wife, Martha Lopez; his son, Jason Lopez, and daughter-in-law, Adelyn; his cherished grandchildren, Evie, Emilia, and Ethan; his brothers, Cesar Lopez and Johnny Lopez; his sister, Carmen Lopez; and his beloved niece and nephews, Melissa, Matthew, and Jonathan. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jose Lopez and Felicita Lebron, and his brother, Jose Lopez.

William will be deeply missed but forever loved and remembered by all who knew him.
